Prosopon Beginners' Iconography Workshop
Monday, April 23rd through Saturday, April 28th, 2018
The Beginners' Workshop is open to 18 “beginning” students, and runs from 9 AM to 4-5 PM for the 6 days. Your choice of icon will be of either Archangel Raphael, or the Guardian Angel. ("Beginning" in this sense means new to the Prosopon process of Iconography if you have been doing icons, or new to icon painting in general, no matter your artistic skill.) For more information about the Prosopon School of Iconology, please visit: www.prosoponschool.org
Members of the parish will be providing lunch daily for the students. On Thursday evening the 26th we will have a relaxing dinner together; usually middle eastern food, and wine will be included. Snacks, coffee, tea and juice will be available throughout the day during the course.
The Workshop will be held at the Church of the Annunciation, 13515 Southeast Rusk Road, Milwaukie, Oregon 97222. Lodging is not provided, but, as always, we are willing to help you find suitable accommodations. Also some parishioners have been willing to house “a few” of the students if space is available, but no guarantees. For information, please contact me, Rosalie Broding, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The cost of the workshop is $750. 00
· If you pay a $100 non-refundable registration fee, postmarked on or before December 31, 2017, you will receive a $50 discount on the cost of the workshop.
· If full payment is postmarked before March 1, 2018, you will receive an additional $50 discount.
· If you need to cancel after you have enrolled, only your $100 non-refundable registration fee will be retained, unless you cancel within 30 days of the start of the workshop. Then ½ of your payment will be retained, unless we are able to refill your seat. If that is the case we will only keep the $100.00 non-refundable fee.
Plus Supply Costs:
Please plan to use the instructor’s supplies during the course. The fee for using the instructor's supplies is $50 and should be paid directly to Dmitri during the class. The supplies will include clay, gold leaf, brushes and a palette. (The brushes and palette will be for you to keep.) You will need to order a 9 1/2 X 12 1/2 or 10 x 13 inch gesso student board with a kovcheg to bring to the class. The cost of the icon board is about $80-$115, depending on style and vendor (excluding shipping). Prepared boards are available through Pandora Iconographer’s Supplies at www.iconboards.com, or St. John’s Workshop at www.stjohnsworkshop.com.
